taptaptap — a guide for new pilots
You control a balloon. Your only objective is to climb as high as possible before it pops. The higher you go, the better your rank on the global leaderboard. There is no ceiling — the sky gives way to space, and space goes on forever.
Every click on the big button pushes your balloon upward. The more you click, the faster you rise. Stop clicking and you will slowly drift back down, so keep tapping to maintain altitude.
Your click power is shown as a multiplier on the button. As you climb higher, the multiplier increases — meaning each tap carries your balloon further than it did near the ground.
Rapid clicking fills the heat meter at the bottom of the screen. When the meter reaches 100%, your balloon pops and the run ends.
Managing heat is the core skill of the game. Clicking in short bursts with brief pauses will take you much further than mashing at full speed.
While you play, two other balloons appear alongside yours — the player just below you and the player just above you on the live leaderboard. Use them as pace markers: chase the balloon above, and stay ahead of the one below.
When your balloon pops, you are offered a chance to continue. Each continue lets you keep playing from your current height rather than starting over — but the heat meter becomes harder to manage with each one. You have a limited number of continues per run, so use them wisely.
At the end of your run your maximum height is recorded against your chosen name. The leaderboard tracks the top scores across different time windows — today, this week, this month, this year, and all time. Only your personal best counts; you can play as many times as you like.
taptaptap is a free-to-play, browser-based competitive clicking game. No download or account is required — just enter a name and start climbing. The game runs entirely in your browser and is supported by advertising. It works on desktop and mobile, though a keyboard or fast mouse gives a competitive edge.
